This is a report into the Australian Consumer Price Index (CPI)1 for the quarter ending 2025-09-30. The chart below sets out these results over the last 2 years.
The bar chart shows the % movement in the CPI for quarter-on-quarter and also the overall index for each quarter between 2023-12-31 and 2025-09-30.
The results show that the CPI index had a 1.3% jump in the latest quarter of 2025-09-30 and this movement was materially greater than the previous quarter of 0.71%. This corresponds to the axis on the left hand side. The trend in CPI movements for the last 4 quarters has been generally upwards. Over the last 2 years, the highest quarterly movement was 1.3% in 2025-09-30 followed by 1% in 2024-06-30 while the lowest was 0.22% in 2024-09-30, 2024-12-31.
The overlaid line shows the overall index as 143.6 for the latest quarter of 2025-09-30 with this being higher than the previous quarter of 141.7. This corresponds to the axis on the right hand side. The trend for the index over the last 4 quarters has been upwards always.
